About a week before her husband arrived home Thursday was just another Thursday for Jeanine and her children. Jeanine was a little more tired than usual as the baby had a rough night. But she pushed through the usual routine. Homeschooling work for her son. Checking the garden, including the hops on the vine her husband had engineered and built himself. Tending to the baby and her older daughter as needed. And getting ready to pack everyone up to go to Scouts and out to dinner with family.
At this point, Jeanine had an inkling that her husband would be home very soon. However, due to a recent OPSEC (operational security) violation, information reaching the spouses was more restricted than usual. So she could only guess whether he would be back in a couple days or more than a week.
